‘I’ll be your friend’: GOP leader says ‘I will be your wife’
Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy said Wednesday he will become “the kind of leader” he wants to be.
McCarthy made the remarks during an interview with ABC News’ Jonathan Karl.
He also said that “I’m not going to go into any specifics” about his marital status, but that he is “not going to be a housewife” and will have children.
He told Karl he hopes his wife, Melissa McCarthy, “will find me a great husband.”
McCarney is a former member of the House Freedom Caucus, the GOP’s most conservative group, and he was an early critic of President Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Trump and other Republicans have attacked the congresswoman’s comments, saying she’s a “liar” and a “sleaze.”
McConnell also said Wednesday that he would not have any children if he becomes president.
