When a dog washes its paws and clothes in the ocean: Dog wash soap company takes on ‘wet-washing’ business
Dogs washing their paws in the water have long been a tradition in the U.S. and abroad, but the new “Wet-Washing” soap business started by an Oregon company may be taking on a whole new meaning.
The company, Dog-A-Wash LLC, is planning to launch its first commercial dry-washing business in Oregon this month.
Dog-a-Wac has a laundry and pet products line, and the company is also building its own wet-washing machines.
“There’s so many things going on right now,” Dog-Sap co-founder and CEO Ryan Moore told ABC News.
“We’re in the midst of an incredible moment in our industry, and a lot of people are asking questions about how do we make our products that are safe, that are affordable, that really go out into the world.”
Moore said his company is launching the first commercial machine in the Portland, Oregon, area.
“It’s the first of its kind in the nation, and it’s a very affordable machine that is designed to do everything that you need in a dry cleaning operation,” Moore said.
Moore said the machine is being made by Dog-Washes’ partner, Wet-Washed Systems.
Moore said the machines are being assembled in Portland and are scheduled to arrive in Eugene by the end of the month.
The new dry-wiping business, called the “Paddle Washing Machine,” is being built by Dog Wash LLC, a Portland, Ore., company that specializes in dry-cleaning products.
The Dog Wash Machine, which has been in the works for about a year, will be a portable machine that can be carried in the back of a vehicle or towed.
Moore says the machine will cost about $1,500 to manufacture.
“They’re going to be able to ship them out to customers very cheaply,” Moore told Business Insider.
Moore also said the company will offer customers a discount on its products when it launches.
Moore says the dry-sitting machines are designed to work on both dry and wet soil.
Moore told ABCNews.com that Dog Wash also is working with a local business to sell dry-soap products to dog owners.
“It’s an opportunity to really build a relationship with a client, who would not otherwise have one,” Moore explained.
“That would be a great opportunity for us to really expand the business and really get in front of that customer base.”
Dog-Wah, the company that launched last year, has been testing a line of dog wash soap.
Moore is working to make a dry-washer-like machine as well.
“The customer will have a dry, clean experience, but we’re also offering a great deal of convenience and we’re offering the customer a fantastic product,” Moore added.
